Taking lead from the country homes of Edwin Lutyens, we found ourselves studying the work of current day great Bernard Wharton of Shope Reno Wharton.  With various monologues from all kinds of great architects scattered across the design table, our client’s kept reaching for Wharton’s “House Home Heart” and from there the architectural idea of this house was born.  The house itself is of a much smaller scale than a typical “country home”, but so is its relationship to the city and the country.  If you find yourself walking by this summer, we expect you’ll find a Labrador lounging somewhere on the premises.
